Foursquare’s latest in it’s yearly vintage dated releases, this 2010 is, like always, a blend of their pot still and column still distillates, aged in ex-bourbon casks for 12 years at the distillery in Barbados. It is bottled without any added sugar, flavor additives, or coloring, and is bottled at a full cask strength of 60% abv. On the nose, it is vintage Foursquare. Vanilla, tropical fruits like mango and grilled pineapple, red berries, burnt sugar, bananas, coconut, acetone, and licorice. On the palate, more vanilla and caramel greet you along with banana, stone fruits, cloves, black pepper, and oaky tannin. The proof is just slightly higher than in most previous years, and you can certainly feel that bit of extra weight. Adding some water releases more flavors of tropical fruit and a floral element that brightens the whole affair.
